Horse riding in Galashiels

Horse riding is one of the most traditional and popular sports in the Scottish Borders. Riding is sociable and offers activities by joining in groups. The gorgeous countryside offers a pleasant environment for novices and the experienced rider alike.

The rolling countryside around Kingsknowes Hotel has some of the best horse riding spots in Britain. The Buccleuch Country Ride is a 57 mile trail and is unique in Scotland. The hills of the Cheviots and Lammermuirs have wide open spaces suitable for experienced horse riders.

The Kingsknowes Hotel in Galashiels is also close to Dryden Riding Centre, which is a British Horse Society approved establishment. Founded in 1975, Dryden have been teaching people to ride horses for over 30 years. The horse centre offers many ways to get involved with horse riding, even if you would rather help out with grooming.

A family friendly series of events is The Borders Festival of the Horse which features 11 days of equestrian events and activities at various locations around the Scottish Borders for riders and spectators alike.
